'The essential conditions of everything you do must be choice, love, passion' Nadia Boulanger
We are proud to present an evening dedicated to the celebration of female composers at Marryat Road for our Wimbledon BookFest 2018 appearance. Featuring Clara Schumann, Lili & Nadia Boulanger, Fanny Mendelssohn, Rebecca Clarke and Kate Whitely, the outstanding pieces we have selected will be accompanied by extracts read from their letters and other correspondence.
We are sorry to announce that due to last minute theatre engagements, Rosalind Ayres and Martin Jarvis will no longer narrate at our Wimbledon Bookfest appearence. However, we are delighted to say that Gabrielle Lloyd has agreed to join us for our concert celebrating female composers.
Clara Schumann (1819 - 1896), Nadia Boulanger (1887 - 1979), Fanny Mendelssohn (1805 - 1847), Lili Boulanger (1893-1918), Rebecca Clarke (1886 - 1979), Kate Whitley (b.1989).
What sacrifices did these pioneering women have to make for the love of their Art?
